Richard Stratton (Rick) is a fire modeling analyst
(www.firemodeling.com) with Systems for Environmental Management (SEM), a research,
development, and educational organization located in
Missoula, Montana. He works at the U.S. Forest
Service Fire Sciences Laboratory in Missoula, MT (www.firelab.org).
His
research interests include geospatial fire modeling, wildland fire use, fuel treatment design, hazard and risk assessment, and home ignitability from wildland fires. Rick received his B.S. in conservation biology from Brigham Young University
and his M.S. in forestry (fire and GIS emphasis)
from Utah State University. Previous to SEM,
he worked eight seasons with the U.S. Forest Service/National Park Service in
various biological and fire suppression and monitoring capacities. He and his
wife, Shelly, are the parents of five children.
